It's good to be back!

It was so good to see everyone last week and to be able to meet together again.  This week some of our small groups will kick off again, so if you are looking for people to connect with, then please let us know. We also have a new small group planned to start next Tuesday evening. This group will meet in Raumati Beach kicking off at 7.30pm. If you are interested, then please let the office know and we will get back to you with all the details. Mainly Music, our music and movement programme...

Level One!

After two months of lockdown we are now free to meet again without any restrictions.  It will  be great to see life return to some level of normality. And if you have listened to our services on air over the last few weeks and would like to join us then we would love to meet you. See you all on Sunday! This Sunday we will continue looking at the book of Acts and the story of Jesus and the growth of the early church - this emerging community of people devoted to following Jesus. What ch...

We're back

Hi everyone. We are NOW open and able to meet for services. This coming Sunday 10.00am we will be meeting although at this stage we are still required to meet all social distancing and contact tracing requirements. We recognise that some of you may be frustrated by this but it looks like it may only be for another couple of weeks. We are keen to gather together but our priority is also the safety of all those who attend especially  those of you who may be more vulnerable. So here’s a litt...

Pentecost Sunday

This Friday the number of people who can gather will rise to 100 people which means that we can now look at reopening for services. The leadership have made the decision that we will look at reopening on Sunday 7 June – the week after the holiday weekend.  So this weekend go away and  catch up with family and we’ll still be on air for you to listen to. This Sunday we will be thinking about Pentecost (Acts 2) and the impact this had on both the disciples and those who saw what happ...

Still waiting

Our second week of level two is here and most of us will be enjoying the freedom this has brought. We can now shop, go out for meal and get a haircut. However, we are still unable to meet for public worship and many people have found this frustrating, feeling in some way that it is unfair. Personally, I’m happy to show a little patience for the sake of those who are most at risk of this virus, should it still be lurking in our community. And as many have reminded us, we are still able to worsh...

This coming week

Woohoo level two! However, churches are still unable to meet at this stage so still no gathered meetings for us. This will be reviewed by the leadership in a couple of weeks and we will advise what steps we will take then to reopen for services if we are given permission to do so. Like many others I have managed during this period of lockdown to catch up on a few movies and one that I had been waiting to see was The Rise of Skywalker, the latest in the Star Wars Saga. It’s a movie that can be ...

This Coming Sunday

After 6 weeks of lock-down perhaps you are beginning to feel a little bit cooped up and are looking forward to being able to get out and about.  At this stage we are not sure how long we will be at level three but it does appear that even at level two it will be some time before we can hold public gatherings – which of course means that it may still be a while before we can hold public meetings. As a leadership we are planning on continuing with the current on-air delivery of our services...

This Coming Sunday

Today is the first day of level three and many of us will be feeling a bit more relaxed however it is also clear that it will still be some time before we are able to gather as a church community. The elders are paying close attention to the Government and will heed their guidelines as to when we can meet again in person. This coming Sunday will continue exploring prayer and especially those times when it seems God is absent. What might God be inviting us to learn during such times? As per the l...

This Coming Sunday

This coming Sunday we are going to be reflecting on prayer – prayer as the basis of our relationship with God. Today one of our elders suggested that as we look to the future we need to be praying – asking God what it is we should be focussing on and doing post Covid-19. This is perhaps the hardest form of prayer – where we keep our requests silent and instead seek to hear God’s voice. It is so easy to tell God what we think we need or to ask things on behalf of others but taking time to...

Be Patient, Be Kind

So we are now almost halfway through week three of the lockdown.  Hopefully the end is drawing near and we can move out of level four to level three. What is becoming clear though, is that life will not just go back to normal, at least not to the way it was pre-covid-19. Many of us will face uncertainty around employment, schooling and finances. This new normal is going to place continued strain on relationships and households. Our Prime-minister has reminded us again and again to be kind d...

He is Risen!

Kia ora, This coming weekend is Easter - a time when Christians around the world will celebrate with the words ‘He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!’ Easter lies at the heart of the Christian message.  This is our hope, our belief, that Jesus has defeated death, that new life is possible for all who will place their trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We may not be able to join together in person to proclaim our hope this weekend but we can still join with the church throughout the ages ...

Virtual Home Group

Host: Mark - I’ve recently joined Paraparaumu Baptist Church after some time in the UK with my wife, Charlotte. I previously fellowshipped at Lower Hutt Baptist church before we moved out to Raumati. We will be following the 'Church at Home' series from the Bible Project - but our main focus will be on one another. Let's start virtually - but continue face-to-face once we can. We will be using Zoom, so you'll need internet access and a webcam. Sadly, you'll need to provide your own coffee and...

Well, This Is Different...

Life is certainly a bit different for us all now. Some of us are working from home, some on unscheduled leave, but all of us are on an enforced break from gathering with others outside our own ‘bubble’.  Perhaps you are beginning to miss the social contact and feeling a bit touch deprived or maybe you are enjoying the chance for solitude and to just be by yourself.  During this time we are keen to keep contact with you and hear how you are doing. The elders will be in contact with ...

We are still operational

Like many other churches we have now closed our Sunday morning gathered worship services. But we have NOT shut-down, we are open and will continue to help you worship God, care for you and help you to care for others. One unexpected aspect of this is that we have been asked to provide a slot each Sunday on the local community radio station. So we will be preparing some music, a message and prayers for that slot. You can listen on air, Sundays @10.30am and again @ 8pm on Thursday evening on Coast...

Dealing with the Covid -19 Virus

The elders have met to discuss our response and responsibilities with regard to the Covid-19 virus outbreak. We have decided to take the following steps in response to guidance from the NZ Government, Baptist Union and Health Officials. We will continue with services and small group meetings while there are no reported cases of community transmission of the virus. At this stage the Government have only limited meetings of 500 people or more. We will cease offering food for morning tea at our serv...

Coming Up this week

This week we will be thinking about now Jesus welcomed those who were on the fringes of society. We will be looking at the story of The Ten Lepers, found in Luke 17:11-19 who were banned from society because they were considered unclean.  A bit like being put in to isolation while the authorities check if you have Covid-19, except that in Jesus day people assumed you were sick because you had sinned and sinners were pushed to the fringes of society. These are the people very Jesus hung out ...

No matter where you are in your faith journey, there is a place for you. Groups you can connect to include Wednesday Homegroup: Meets on 1st and 3rd Wednesday every month at 2pmWomens Group: Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the Month from...

Upcoming Sermon Series

Over the next few weeks we will be exploring how Mark identifies Jesus as both the Son of God and the servant of all – a son with the authority of God and yet a son who chooses to act as a servant to those he came to show God’s love to. A son who ultimately will give his life on behalf of all people. What can Mark teach us about living in such a way that we are so confident in who we belong to, that we too are prepared to live sacrificially on behalf of others? This Sunday we will explore Ma...
