Expectations

Sometimes our expectations about life are spot-on but way to often our expectations are unrealistic both for ourselves and for others. We often place unrealistic expectations on our partners or spouses or on our children or workmates. You know the expectation that they will keep their rooms spotless or cook our dinner everything night or whatever else it is we expect of them.

And I wonder how many of us have unrealistic expectations of God – things we think God should or shouldn’t do. For many of us it can be easy to turn God into some sort of Santa Claus – a spiritual Santa who exists to make our lives easy. And sometimes we ignore God’s voice because it doesn’t match up to our expectations – the things we expect God would say. What would it look like to give up our expectations of God and instead let God lead us to things we could never have imagined – life in all its fullness.

This Sunday We will be thinking about Giving up .. expectations.   What might it mean for us to give up some of our expectations about God and others? What new things might God invite us to participate in?

Mainly Music -  meets again this week. We had a great group at our first meeting this year and look forward to seeing you all again this week. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is also a way for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care and concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups are now up and running again. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one

Oh and for those who are unable to join us we will still have an on-air service for you @10.30am and again @ 8pm on Thursday evening on Coast Access Radio 104.7FM or you can livestream at
