Giving Up

For those who don’t know the Church often follows what is called the church calendar or year. This church year is designed to highlight the key tenets of the Christian faith – Advent, Christmas, and Easter are the most well-known ones. The lead up to Easter is preceded by a period of 40 days called Lent. Lent is a time for those of us who seek to follow Jesus to think and reflect on the events and life of Jesus leading up to Easter. Traditionally it was also a time for fasting, for giving things up and seeking to serve others who were less fortunate.

This year we will be thinking about what it means to Give Up, not stuff, but attitudes and values that stop us from becoming the people God invites us to be.  So over the next few weeks we will think about Giving up – control, expectations, superiority, enemies, our lives and popularity. In doing so may we become more and more like Jesus - the one we seek to follow.

This Sunday We will be thinking about Giving up .. Control.   What might it mean for us to give up the desire to be in control and instead to trust God?

Mainly Music  POSTPONED DUE TO LEVEL 2.  Due to the recent shift to COVID level 2 we have decided to postpone this week’s session of mainly music. We had a great group last week and look forward to seeing you all again next week. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is also a way for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care and concern and support for those with young children.
