Advent 2

Advent is a reminder that we are looking forward to the birth of Jesus, the Messiah - the one who came to show us what God is like. In Jesus we are reminded that we are called to show God's love to others and to the community in which we live.

Over the last couple of months we as a church have been exploring how we can connect with and serve our community. One way we already do this is through Mainly Music (see details below) as we connect with mum’s and their young children for a fun time with music and play.

A second way has been through a partnership with Phoenix Lifeskills, a group working with young people with disabilities in our community to help give them their own voice and to empower them in their own lives. They now use our building on a regular basis as a base for their activities.

A third way has been our connection with Te Hāhi, https://www.tehahi.org.nz/ an initiative to support people who have been impacted by family harm in our community.

Each of these initiatives is an opportunity for us to demonstrate God’s care and concern for our community – to show that God is for us and wants the very best for every single one of us.

This Sunday We head to Mathew’s story of Jesus and some of the names mentioned in Jesus list of ancestors.  We’ll be focussing on the names of five women who make that list – five quite unusual people who each have a story to tell.  This week we will hear the story of Rahab.

Mainly Music this coming Wednesday. Meets every Wednesday from 10.00am during term time. If you have small children feel free to join us.

Small Groups are meeting again. Contact the church if you would like to join one.

Oh and for those who are unable to join us we will still have an on-air service for you @10.30am and again @ 8pm on Thursday evening on Coast Access Radio 104.7FM or you can livestream at

http://coastaccessradio.org.nz/Listen/index.aspx  The message and prayers will also be posted to the sermon page on this website.

If at this time you need someone to chat with then please call the church office 04 2987766 or email office@pb.org.nz and we’ll get back to you.
