Hope

This coming Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent, which marks the period of time in the church year, as we wait and prepare for the arrival of Christmas day. It’s a reminder to us, who already know that Jesus has come, of the long period of waiting the people of Israel endured as they waited for the birth of the Messiah. As Christians we believe Jesus was the fulfilment of that long waited for promise and so we carry within us the hope that Jesus offers to everyone – life in connection with God. But we also wait, in anticipation of the return of Jesus when all will be made right.

Hear again this promise given through Isaiah, the Old Testament prophet

For a child has been born--for us! the gift of a son--for us! He'll take over the running of the world. His names will be: Amazing Counsellor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness. His ruling authority will grow, and there'll be no limits to the wholeness he brings. He'll rule from the historic David throne over that promised kingdom. He'll put that kingdom on a firm footing and keep it going with fair dealing and right living, beginning now and lasting always. The zeal of GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies will do all this. (Isa 9:6-7 Message Version)

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
