What we worship

Last weekend I watched the Black Ferns win their first pool game of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. 40,000 people crammed into the stadium to support their team and when they won, the crowd heaped upon them their praise and adoration for such a great game. Several years ago an ad here in NZ showed the same stadium with a crowd and the All Blacks with the word ‘worship’ written across it. We often worship a winning team, we pile glory and honour upon them, declaring their worth.

N.T Wright says that what we worship will, ultimately, impact us as people. We will become more and more like the thing we give our time, our attention to, our devotion to. If we worship, money, power, sex or others then we will be changed by the influence it has over our lives. I wonder what it is you worship? And I wonder if you are aware how much it impacts on the way you live your life? I hope that whoever or whatever you choose to worship that it makes you more like the person God created you to be.

This Sunday What is it that we are invited to be part of as God's people? Whose mission are we called to participate in? Our own or God's? In this series, The Mission of God, we are going to explore how big the Gospel story really is.

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. We do ask that you wear a mask. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.

And we are also on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/parap...
