Eternity in their hearts

Have you ever found yourself staring at the night sky, wondering if there was more to life than what we see around us. This idea that we were made for something more is found in all sorts of stories, movies, poems and quotes.  It’s as though we have it written on our DNA - the belief that this life is not all there is.

C.S Lewis once said ‘If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.’

The write of Ecclesiastes wrote ‘He (God) has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.’ (Ecc 3:11)

Are we more than just animals, who are born and die and return to dust – or are we made for so much more? The Biblical story tells us we were made for more, that God created us to share life together, not just here on earth but for eternity. What a great story.

This Sunday - we will be continuing our look into the book of Ecclesiastes. In this book ‘the preacher’ asks questions about life, it’s meaning, purpose and the apparent futileness of life at times. Why do good people suffer, why do bad people get away with things. Is there any point to it all? How do we make sense of life? Over the next few weeks we’re going to be looking at this book and seeking to make sense of some of life’s hard questions.

Mainly Music – This Wednesday from 10.00am. We do ask that you wear a mask. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
