And the goal is...

There is an old tale told of a wealthy man who was an avid art collector. When he died his art collection was put up for auction. When the auction began the very first piece was a rather simplistic, amateurish piece of the man’s son, who had died while still a young man. No one was interested in this particular piece, all eyes were on the fabulous collectible pieces still on display. Eventually an old woman, obviously poor, offered to buy the picture. The auctioneer sold it to her and then asked ‘Why do you want this piece?” "Oh." she said, "I used to be the boy’s nanny and I was so fond of him." At that point the auctioneer declared the auction closed and said ‘All the art is now yours. The father’s wish was that whoever takes the Son, gets everything.’

The same may be said of Jesus. I wonder how many of us want what God has to offer but don’t want Jesus? We want God to give us fame or wealth or even eternal life but we want it on our terms. Sometimes we forget that the end goal is the very person we are trying to ignore or avoid. All that we are searching for, all that we long for is found in the person of Jesus. Maybe it’s time you got to know him a little bit better – to see if it is really true.

This coming Sunday is a 'vaccination pass required' service.  This means that you will need to bring your vaccination pass with you and we are required by law to sight it before you can enter. Unfortunately due to the Covid red setting we will no longer be offering our unvaccinated service.

Please note the following requirements put in place by our leadership team to keep you and others as safe as possible.

  • Please use the app or attendance sheet to keep a record of your visit.
  • The elders have decided that mask wearing will now be compulsory but musicians, speakers and those singing at the front can remove their mask.
  • Spacing of 1m between bubbles (so no hugging of others please).
  • If you are at all unwell then please stay home.
  • And can we encourage you to get vaccinated as a way of keeping yourself and others safe.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to then please email us @ office@pb.org.nz and we will make contact with you.
