Learn

Have you ever tried to learn an instrument or take up a new hobby?  There is this period of time when it all feels so awkward and unnatural and you wonder if you are ever going to ‘get it’. The piano keys are just in the wrong place, the guitar chords just don’t happen, and balancing on that skateboard is just way too hard.

Experts tell us that it actually takes 100’s of hours for us to learn a new skill.  At first it feels all wrong but then one day something clicks - it’s like the brain says ‘Yeah I’ve got this – I can do it’.

The early church had this expression that they used – ‘learning Jesus’.  They knew that most people had no idea who Jesus was or what it meant to be a person who wanted to put their faith in Jesus. So the early church had a thing called catechism, in which a person set about learning Jesus – who he was, what he did and then how to live like Jesus.

How well do you know the story of Jesus? Who he was, what he did and what it means to live like him. Do you need to ‘learn Jesus’ so that you can be a better follower of him in our world today? How might you do that?

We are meeting this week and yes there will be music and singing.  Please note the following requirements put in place by our leadership team.

  • All attendees are required to record their presence – either by app or sign-in (This is a legal requirement)
  • Recommendations that all people wear masks. (We have been advised that those speaking at the front can remove their mask to speak)
  • We are once again serving morning tea but with restrictions in place.
  • Spacing of 1m between bubbles (so no hugging of others please)
  • If you are at all unwell then please stay home
  • And can we encourage you to get vaccinated as a way of keeping yourself and others safe.

It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups are meeting via Zoom. Contact  the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
