Can you hear?

How often have you found yourself in a situation where you can’t really hear what is been said to you. Maybe there’s just way too much other noise, a lawnmower or revving cars or the telly. And how many of you have  found yourselves distracted while someone tries to tell you something important. Maybe you keep watching the tv. or looking at your book or phone and the result is that you don’t hear what is being said to you.

Carl Roger’s once said ‘We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.’

I wonder how often we take the time to hear what the Spirit of God might want to say to us. That voice that prompts us to be more generous, more gracious, more like Jesus. How often do we miss it because our minds are filled with or distracted by other things?

This week why not grab some time and a space where you can sit and listen and in the listening allow God to change you in ways you never thought possible, ways to help you become all God created you to be.

We are meeting this week and yes there will be music and singing.  Please note the following requirements put in place by our leadership team.

  • All attendees are required to record their presence – either by app or sign-in (This is a legal requirement)
  • Recommendations that all people wear masks. (We have been advised that those speaking at the front can remove their mask to speak)
  • We are once again serving morning tea but with restrictions in place.
  • Spacing of 1m between bubbles (so no hugging of others please)
  • If you are at all unwell then please stay home
  • And can we encourage you to get vaccinated as a way of keeping yourself and others safe.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to then please email us at the address below and we will make contact with you office@pb.org.nz

Mainly Music -  Starts again this Wednesday 20 October. Normally meets Wednesday’s from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups are meeting via Zoom. Contact  the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.

If at this time you need someone to chat with then please call the church office 04 2987766 or email office@pb.org.nz and we’ll get back to you.
