Dave Dobbyn’s song ‘Welcome home’ resonates with many of us because it seems that we all want a place to belong, we all want to know that somewhere there are people who will miss us if we aren’t around. The language of the song especially calls to us as kiwis with its imagery of our land and a woman who calls to us, to this place that we belong. The biblical story is also a story of coming home – of discovering that there is a place, a homeland, and all of us are invited to be a part of it. In this story we learn of a God who loves, a God who seeks those who feel lost and alone, a God who cares for the last and the least. At PBC we want to be a community of people who mirror God’s care and concern for the world. We want to be place where all are welcome.
