Shortest Day

Last week we passed the shortest day of the year, which means that we are now on the way from winter to spring and summer. Perhaps like me, you have been surprised at how quickly this year has passed bye. The events of the last few months have disrupted our normal routines and our sense of time.  It is easy to look forward to spring and wish winter was past, especially when it is wet and cold, but to do so wishes away a good chunk of the year and our lives. Instead I wonder if now is a good time to reflect – to take stock of our lives, to look at the things we are spending time on. Do these things had value to our lives or to the lives of those we spend the most time with? Do they help me to be a better person? What could we be investing our time in that will be of more value to the people I live with and the community I am a part of?

Mainly Music, our music and movement programme, is now up and running again. If you have small children and would like to join us it starts at 10.00am on Wednesday in our church building. NB: Mainly Music does not run during the school holidays.

This Sunday Jim, one of our members, will be introducing us to some of the people who played important supportive roles for Paul in his ministry, especially the part played by Luke. He has titled it ‘My part in God's tapestry - what do I add to His design?’

Oh and for those who are unable to join us we will still have an on-air service for you  @10.30am and again @ 8pm on Thursday evening on Coast Access Radio 104.7FM or you can livestream at

http://coastaccessradio.org.nz/Listen/index.aspx  The message and prayers will also be posted to the sermon page on this website.

If at this time you need someone to chat with then please call the church office 04 2987766 or email office@pb.org.nz and we’ll get back to you.
