Superhero

When I was growing up the heroes of our time were Batman and Superman and they were 1950’s characters, pure of heart and actions. And then along came Christopher Nolan and he recreated Batman – The Dark Knight. Here was a character who has flaws, who struggles with his past, who carries within a darkness that threatens to destroy him or make him like the baddies he fights. It’s a great reminder that most of us are less than perfect, however others may portray us. Abram, the great man of faith in the Bible was also a man of great doubt, a man who struggled with faith. Despite that he becomes known as a hero of faith, not because he struggled but because he didn’t give up.

I wonder who your heroes and role-models are? Those who influence your life. I hope that they are people who have struggled with life, with faith and have persisted even when they may have got things wrong. And I hope that you too can pick yourself and carry on, when you get things wrong.

Got questions about Jesus? Why not check out the ‘Who is Jesus?’ link on the page menu.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This coming Sunday: We start a new series looking at the life of Abraham. What can we learn from this great figure about faith and failure?

As it is the school holidays, there will be no children’s programme, however clip board activities will be available and a crèche for younger children.

To join with us on air, tune in to Coast Access Radio 104.7FM from 10.00am or livestream at http://coastaccessradio.org.nz...

Mainly Music – Wednesdays from 10.00am during school terms. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It is also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
