Listening to God

It’s easy to be sceptical when someone says, ‘God told me’. Too often those words are used to suppress opposition or questioning of their decisions or actions. It becomes the ultimate permission giver. Afterall who can argue with God. And yet, history would suggest that God does in fact talk to us and lead us in ways we might not expect. Sometimes it is in the words of Jesus as revealed through Scripture, sometimes in the words of friends, sometimes a small inner voice that invites us to be or do something outside of our normal practice. Invariably the voice of God invites us to be more loving, more compassionate and more open to others. It is a voice that invites us to help others discover the God who loves them. Perhaps the hardest part is learning to listen, discerning the voice of God from all the other voices that demand our attention. I wonder how the voice of God might be inviting you to love others?

Got questions about Jesus? Why not check out the ‘Who is Jesus?’ link on the page menu.

Mainly Music – Wednesdays from 10.00am during school terms. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It is also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.
