Where is your treasure?

I wonder if you have in your house a special treasure. Maybe something given to you by a parent or grandparent and so it holds a special place in your life. Maybe you lock it up in a cabinet so that no-one can play with it and break it. This item has become a touchstone, a symbol of safety and security.

Or maybe your treasure is treasure and you have spent a lifetime building up a nest egg for your retirement. I wonder if you have noticed that the more we attain the more time we spend protecting it and keeping it safe. It can become almost an obsession as we worry how the world economy or Government policy may impact on all our hard work.

Jesus warned his disciples about becoming so obsessed with attaining treasure here on earth that we forget about storing up treasure in heaven. We forget that sometimes treasure isn’t all there is to life. We focus on the wrong things.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This Sunday @ 10am we will be having an all-age service based around the idea of treasure. Come along and discover what Jesus meant by storing up treasure.

A crèche for younger children is available.

Mainly Music – Wednesdays from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.
