Unplug plug-In

This week we begin a series looking at the sermon on the Mount, a famous message given by Jesus in which he challenged people to a new way of living based on the values of the kingdom of God. This series is appropriate as we head into the season of Lent, as we reflect on our relationship with God heading towards Easter. As part of that preparation, we are encouraging people to unplug and Plugin. Unplug from all the distractions we have in life and plug-in to some activities that will help feed our souls.

It's thought the average person spends about 20 to 30 hours a week watching TV so perhaps you could unplug your screen and try one of these activities each week.

Eat – eat with someone you’ve never shared a meal with before. Perhaps a neighbour or a workmate?

Play – try an activity that connects you to others, so you laugh and get some exercise.

Relax/reflect – spend some time reflecting on life, and Scripture. Use you lack of screen-time to reread Mark’s gospel and reflect on what it is saying to you.

Connect – meet those new neighbours, join a new group, engage with others.

Create – spend some time creating something. Give painting a go or make something that tells a story of your life.

Serve – spend some of your extra time serving others. Somone who needs groceries or a ride to town.

So go on, Unplug and Plug-In.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.
