Power and privilege

What would you do if you won lotto?  When the big draw was won recently here in Paraparaumu conversation centred around the question of ‘who had won?’ Followed quickly by ‘I wonder what they will do with the money?’ Will they buy a new house, a boat, go on a world trip, splash out on friends and family?

Wealth and often the newfound power that comes with it can have the effect of changing people. Some will use it to get what they want.  Others may use it to serve the community around them.

Joseph was a person who rose to power and prestige in the land of Egypt. While he could have used that position to make his own life much easier, he instead used that position to serve the people of the land in which he lived.

I wonder how we might use our power and resources to serve those in need?

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This Sunday @ 10am we will continue our series looking at the life of Joseph. Come and join us as we explore the life of this pivotal character from the Old Testament. This week we are looking at the issue of power and prosperity. We’ll be looking at Gen 41:39-57.

A children’s programme for children aged 3-8 is available during the service and a crèche for younger children.

To join with us on air tune in to Coast Access Radio 104.7FM from 10.00am or livestream at http://coastaccessradio.org.nz...

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. We will be on holiday break during the school holidays returning again on the 11 October. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.

And we are also on Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/parap...
