The right thing to do

I quite enjoy Dr Who, the British BBC show that has hung around for just on 60 years. And one thing I really like is the Dr’s speeches – the monologues set into each series that help to define what is going on. In one show the Dr says the following

“Winning? Is that what you think it’s about? I’m not trying to win. I’m not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It’s not because it’s fun. God knows it’s not because it’s easy. It’s not even because it works because it hardly ever does. I DO WHAT I DO BECAUSE IT’S RIGHT! Because it’s decent! And above all, it’s kind! It’s just that. Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, you know, maybe there’s no point to any of this at all. But it’s the best I can do. So, I’m going to do it. And I will stand here doing it until it kills me. — The Doctor. In our society we often only want to be on the side of those who are winning, those who have power and control. But the gospel story of Jesus calls us to what it good and kind and loving.  And it isn’t always easy, and it often seems to be a waste of time, but it is the right thing to do. Jesus invites us to care for the weak, the vulnerable, those who need to hear that they are important to God and loved by him. Will you accept his invitation?

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This Sunday @ 10am we will continue our series as we look at all the one-another expressions in the New Testament that encourage us in our life together. And we have two people who are getting baptised!

A children’s programme for children aged 3-6 is available during the service and a crèche for younger children.

To join with us on air tune in to Coast Access Radio 104.7FM from 10.00am or livestream at http://coastaccessradio.org.nz...

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
