Who needs a nose?

A few years ago, I had to have nasal surgery and one of the things I discovered afterwards was a renewed sense of smell. For the first time in years, I could smell things I hadn’t even realised I wasn’t smelling. I must confess that it was pretty handy when our kids were in nappies not being able to smell. But I also discovered something else after my surgery. I realised that food now had a taste. I don’t know why but for me not being able to smell meant I was also unable to taste.  Sometimes those bits of our bodies that seem insignificant can actually be more important than we realise. And the same is true for the people around us. Sometimes, the people who seen unimportant, can do things we can’t do or can even help us be better people.

Paul, the Apostle, talked about the people who make up the church being parts of a body and just how important each bit was. Listen to what he wrote,

“And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact, God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:16-18,

So regardless of what others may say about us, we all have a part to play and all of us are important to God.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to, then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will contact you.

This Sunday @ 10am we will continue our series as we look at all the one-another expressions in the New Testament that encourage us in our life together. If you want to check out those one another’s have a look here. I wonder which ones you might find hard to do.

A children’s programme for children aged 3-6 is available during the service and a crèche for younger children.

To join with us on air tune in to Coast Access Radio 104.7FM from 10.00am or livestream at http://coastaccessradio.org.nz...

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. In recess until Wednesday 19 July. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern, and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
