Can I be changed?

Years ago I met a guy whose life had been radically transformed from what I had known him to be. The gentle, caring and generous guy I encountered was nothing like the foul mouthed, brutal guy I had known many years before. Fred, put his transformation down to his encounter with Jesus.  ‘Jesus changed my life from the inside out’ he said. And it showed. Fred’s change wasn’t just a temporary thing – he was in effect a new man.

And that, is the hope of the Gospel, what we once were, does not have to be how we live forever. We, like Fred, can have our lives tipped upside down and all the rubbish dumped out.  I wonder what there is that lurks inside your life that you wish you could get rid of, dump in the rubbish and have it forgotten about? Maybe it’s your anger, your racism, your self-importance or your treatment of others. I suspect many of us have things we need to get rid of. Maybe Jesus is the one who can help you begin again.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will make contact with you.

This Sunday we continue our Lenten series called ‘Another story must begin’ looking at the characters from the book and musical Les Misérables. What do they teach us about ourselves, others and God?  This week we look at the redemption of Jean Valjean and the transformation in his life. Sunday 10am. A children’s programme for children aged 3-5 is available during the service.

To join with us on air tune in to Coast Access Radio 104.7FM from 10.00am or livestream at http://coastaccessradio.org.nz...

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
