What can we do?

Perhaps like me you have watched in amazement at the flooding and damage that has occurred around Aotearoa/New Zealand over the last few weeks. Many of us will have friends and family who have been affected by the storms.  Here in Kāpiti we have been spared the wind and rain and the suffering which so many others are now facing. We have much to be grateful for.  Many of these communities will be requiring our help and support in the months that lie ahead.

Jesus reminded us that we have a duty to care for those who are in need and James the Apostle wrote,
What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.   James 2:14-17

How can you help? It may be that you can go and help in person once the initial emergency is over. It may be that you can give to organisations who are helping others. It may be that you could provide temporary housing to a family in need. Let’s put our care and concern into action.

If you are struggling at this time and just need someone to talk to then please email us at office@pb.org.nz or call 0223075225 and we will make contact with you.

This Sunday we continue our  series ‘Love that won’t let go’ looking at the life of the prophet Hosea.  Sunday 10am.

To join with us on air tune in to Coast Access Radio 104.7FM from 10.00am or livestream at http://coastaccessradio.org.nz...

Mainly Music – Wednesday from 10.00am. This programme is a fun way for parents and their children to spend quality time together based around music and movement. It is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with and offer something back to the community of which we are a part. It’s also a way for us to demonstrate care, concern and support for those with young children.

Small Groups. We have several groups meeting. Contact the church office@pb.org.nz if you would like to join one.
